Dr. Amir Jafari, DO, is a board-certified anesthesiologist and an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of Florida (UF). He currently serves within the Division of Pain Medicine and the Division of Multispecialty Anesthesia at UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. 


Dr. Jafari specializes in interventional pain management, focusing on minimally invasive procedures for spine and joint health: 


Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery: Advancement of endoscopic spine surgery.


Neuromodulation: Research and clinical application of spinal cord stimulation for intractable pain.


Pain Procedures: Expertise in sacroiliac joint fusion, kyphoplasty, and treatments for Bertolotti's syndrome.


General Anesthesia: Subspecialty training in providing perioperative care for various surgeries, including orthopedics and plastic surgery. 


Education: Earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona.


Residency: Completed his anesthesiology residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.


Fellowship: Graduated from the Multidisciplinary Pain Medicine Fellowship at the University of Florida in 2021.


Academic Role: Beyond clinical practice, he serves as an Assistant Professor and the Associate Program Director for the Endoscopic Spine Fellowship at UF Health. 


He is actively involved in clinical research, recently receiving funding from the I. Heermann Anesthesia Foundation for a pilot study on individualized care in spinal cord stimulation.
