CentralCare seeks exp'd Anesthesiologist for full-time services at Carl R. Darnall Army Med Ctr in Ft Cavazos, TX. Great opp to support military & families as civilian contractors.

Details:

• Pay: Hourly (1099)

• Availability: Full Time preferred | PRN Considered if Local

• Shift: Self Schedule

• Contract Length: 1 yr Preferred (option to extend)


Experience:

• Practiced as Anesthesiologist for at least 2 yrs within the past 3 yrs

• Knowledge of med mgmt & consult during perioperative period, in Pain Med & critical care med

• Knowledge of wide variety of anesthesiology procedures & techniques incl functional characteristics of complex resp equip. This includes administering assisted & controlled ventilation to pts w/ tracheotomies & other complex med problems, performing artificial airway care & maintenance

• Knowledge of anatomy & physiology. In-depth understanding of lung & bronchi structure & function related to gas exchange & ventilation, to administer special ventilation techniques such as: PEEP & IMV; interpreting blood gas study results & adjusting ventilator settings; removing endotracheal tubes; & assessing pt's resp status & evaluating therapy effectiveness

• Knowledge of pharmacology incl understanding of various drug classes & their uses, ability to prepare dosages & concentrations & select proper administration methods, & skill in identifying drug complications & interactions; to determine therapy effectiveness & make recommendations to physicians regarding changes or alternatives to treatment

• Broad knowledge of computers & related software


Responsibilities:

• Administers anesthesia to surgical pts

• Performs anesthesia services admin functions. Coordinates pt care & admin activities of anesthesia services during & after surgical procedures. Monitors & evaluates anesthesia activities for compliance w/ established pt care standards, policies, & regulations. Analyzes supply, equip, & other resource requirements, & makes recommendations

• Contract Anesthesiologists primarily req'd to perform anesthesia services during surgical procedures. When services aren't req'd, or anesthesia services are more urgently needed elsewhere, contract Anesthesiologists may be assigned by Chief Anesthesiology or their designee to provide support in other MTF sections/departments commensurate w/ their experience. Contract Anesthesiologists will participate in Anesthesia educational requirements incl attendance in morning report

• Provide Operating Room Support. Contract Anesthesiologists shall provide anesthesia services for surgical pts incl non-surgical pts needing anesthesia support in remote hospital areas.

• Contract Anesthesiologist possesses knowledge, judgment, adaptability, clinical skills, technical facility & personal characteristics sufficient to carry out entire scope of anesthesia practice ranging from neonates to geriatrics & obstetrics

• As req'd, use EMR to manage pts & med info & communicate w/ other health care providers & ancillary staff

• Contract Anesthesiologists req'd to annotate & sign med records per DHA policy & MTF requirements when applicable

• As part of peer review, MTF staff practitioners may randomly review contract Anesthesiologists’ annotated pt med records. MTF staff practitioners will note defects, omissions, addenda, etc., & contract personnel shall make required corrections

• Perform full range of physician services per MTF privileges

• Direct, perform, or assist in instruction of other health care professionals within scope of clinical privileges or responsibilities.

• Order diagnostic tests as applicable & request consult or referral w/ appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated.

• Technically proficient in directing & teaching other med staff, providing educational lectures & participating in provision of in-service training to clinic staff members. Such direction & interaction will adhere to Govt & professional clinical standards & accepted clinical protocols


Qualifications:

• M.D. or D.O. Graduate of accredited med school in US/Canada

• Completion of internship/accredited residency program in Anes

• Board Certified in Anes

• Current, unrestricted TX med license

• Active DEA, BLS, PALS, & ACLS. No on-line certs accepted

• Meet CME requirements
